Improvements are on the way to 3D TV for 2012

The DVB (Digital Video Broadcast) group are looking into improving 3D for next year.

According to the source, Wotsat the DVB group are at the moment looking at adding death range control to the image and are also planning on how to  upgrade the current half-HD 3D to Full HD for 2012.

These are the two new features that will also be featured in the Phase Two 3D TV standard which will make its UK appearance next year.

Moving on, the Chairman of the DVB commercial module, David Wood mentioned at the IBC that "Young people like more depth in the IR pictures than old people do. They like 'poke your eyes out', but older consumers like flatter images."

From the comments David Wood made makes it clear to us that there are two ways  of how these  improvements can be carried out, one by implementing an MCV format which would mean more expense for the consumer as they would have to be the ones to purchase new and compatible TVs plus set-top boxes. Alternatively, keep the current half-HD 3D but just add extra picture detail with the help of another signal.
