IFA 2011: The Latest News

IFA, the world’s largest consumer Technology show is back for its 51st time in Berlin, Germany for five days of Tech madness.

Here’s what has been happening so far:

Sony

Sony has officially put a name to its two Android based tablets which was earlier referred to as the Sony Tablet S1 is now to be called the Sony Tablet S. Plus, its sibling the S2 has now been renamed to the Tablet P.

They both hit the shelves at the end of this month but with no confirmation of UK prices. However, Sony did mention that the Tablet S will go on sale at $749 with the Tablet P coming in with a the price tag of $599.

Dixons later announced their UK starting price for the Sony Tablet S 16GB Wi-Fi model only at £399.99. Plus, you can pre-order the Wi-Fi and 3G version for £499.99 or add more storage to satisfy your needs up to 32GB again at the damage of £499.99.

Meanwhile, Sony also announced a brand new upcoming eReader to be called the Sony Reader Wi-Fi PRS-T1- bringing a weight of 168g and a thickness of 8.9mm. It will give you enough reading for one month on just on one singular charge available in either red, black or white.

Now, lets talk Sony PCs with the VAIO L 3D or, this is a mouthful to say the Sony Vaio VPCL21SE/B which is an an all-in-one PC bringing a 24-inch Full HD LED backlight display. However, those who prefer notebooks or a bit of both you will be glad to know that Sony have additionally added a 15.5” model to the VAIO S Series which is also Full HD with the extra of  a‘ glasses-free 3D’ panel giving you the chance to watch the latest 3D Blu-rays with just a single flip of a screen.

imageNot forgetting the Sony’s SMP-N200 Network Media Player which was also unveiled at IFA 2011 allowing anyone to turn a television you and I watch to a connected TV.

Finally, from Sony they’ve updated their arc-line up this with the Sony Xperia Arc S.

Samsung

First up from Samsung is the 18x superzoom WB750 compact camera which brings with it BSI (Back Side Illuminated) CMOS sensor and for the very first time in Samsung history their own DSP 3 key component. Next up from Samsung, was a flip-up screen camera which apparently makes shooting easier from peculiar angles. Finally, the third camera the company bring to IFA is to be called the NX200 and feature 20.3 Mp APS-C size CMOS sensor, 100 millisecond advanced autofocus and the capability of HD video recording.

Enough of cameras because now its all about the Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7. Featured is a super AMOLED screen, 5100mAh battery and running Android’s 3.2 OS plus installed is Samsung TouchWiz. Back to cameras, the Galaxy Tab 7.7 will come with a 2Mp camera on the front carrying a 3Mp one on the back. The tablet will furthermore be released in 8GB, 16Gb, 32GB and 64GB versions.

iPhone 4 watch out because Samsung has just unveiled the the whopping 1.4GHz dual-core Samsung Galaxy Note.

Plus, ahead of the opening they were were quick to reveal the latest laptop range to be called the Series 7 Chronos line up  featuring a hefty Intel Core i7 quad core processor and a 15.6 inch screen.  Alternatively,  if you are looking for a cheaper Chronos laptop go for the other version which Samsung will also be releasing packed with a 15 inch screen and an Intel Huron River Core i5 2467M processor.

Amongst all of that, also announced by Samsung was the PC-Series 7 tablet which can easily be docked to be used as a Windows 7 desktop PC equipped with a Bluetooth keyboard and mouse.

Phillips

Phillips have busy been unveiling a brand new range of Full HD 3D TVs built in with integrated Internet, LED display panels with the ability to convert between 2D and 3D when you fancy a change. Plus, the 9000, 8000 and 7000 TV lines have also been refreshed.

For those movie addicts out there Phillips have also announced a brand new range of 21:9 Cinema TVs.

Also, the company announced new docks for Android devices and even more, oh yes possibly the world’s fastest TVs.

LG

LG have announced its new LW908T TV lineup to combine the latest 3D technology with the newest SmartTV technology around. They will come in 47 and 55 inch versions and make use of LG’s Nano Full LED backlighting hopefully bringing you a brighter and clearer picture to your screen. Also, why not update your sound system at the same time with LG’s new HX906TX 3D surround sound system featuring Dolby certified 360 audio.

Plus, LG have also launched PenTouch plasma TVs at this year’s IFA.

More from LG but also Phillips and Sharp as they team up on Smart TV apps.

HTC

HTC has bought us two new smartphones to be called the the HTC Titan and  the HTC Radar which we can expect to hit the shops in October.

Toshiba

Toshiba bring us the its AT200 Tablet which was confirmed to be just 7.7mm thick arriving at IFA with Honeycomb 3.2. Plus, the tablet will feature a 1.2GHz processor backing 1GB of RAM. It will come to the market with a 10.1 inch screen.

Lenovo

Lenovo have gone eco-friendly with their unveiling of the first ever Intel Ultrabook implementations. It all comes from the Lenevo IdeaPad U300 will run various implementations of Intel’s ULV, which stands for Ultra Low voltage of their established i Core series  also featuring SSD drives. No sign of a UK release date yet.

Dell

Dell are sticking to the the thin and sleek look with their brand new Inspiron 14z range.

Netgear

Netgear announced a total of three new products at IFA 2011 all designed to help you stream your entertainment around the home. The first one comes from the Powerline Nano Dual-port Set, then the Universal Dual Band Wireless Internet Adapter for TV and Blu-ray. Finally, the Universal Push2TV Wireless PC to TV adapter which basically runs the task of broadcasting moving picture from a Windows PC to an HDMI compatible TV set.

Creative

Creative on the other hand showed us their brand new Sound Blaster headphones designed solely for the use of gaming. It included the Tactic360 Sigma, the Tactic360 ION, Tactic 3D Wrath and Tactic 3D Omega.
