Amazon Kindle tablet specs detailed!

image

The idea of a proper tablet – rather than just an eReader – from Kindle has been floating around for quite a while. Full details of the tablet have now cropped up, and it’s not quite looking like the iPad and Galaxy Tab killer we were hoping for.

Although we’ve yet to see images of the Kindle tablet, spec details of the gadget have now been leaked. Unlike previous eReaders, the Kindle tablet is set to get a colour screen.

There’s said to be no sign of Android for the tablet. Android is still used, but Amazon has covered up a basic version of the OS with a custom Kindle interface. This means there will be no Android updates in the future, with Amazon and Google not working together for the project.

Internal storage is limited to 6GB, making the latest Amazon device more of a super-eReader than an all-out tablet. Still, the colour screen means it’ll be better at browsing photographs, and with a mooted price point of just $250, it could be a cheap way of browsing the internet.
