Sony PSP e1000 targets younger users. Really young users!

In contrast to the host of recent feature-packed games consoles, Sony took the confusing decision to strip it’s latest PSP of some rather key features – such as Wi-Fi. The Japanese company now claims that it’s a bid to attract younger users, but will it work?

The original Sony PSP has been around for quite a few years now, and with the introduction of updated models like the PSP Go, you can get the more traditional PSP 3000 for a relatively affordable amount. Despite this, Sony has decided to strip out the model even more, with the the introduction of the Wi-Fi-less Sony PSP e1000.

When it was announced, lots of you guys questioned who exactly the PSP e1000 was aimed at, and now Sony has the answer. Younger users, apparently, with Sony UK Product Manager Claire Blackhouse pointing out that the “PSP is going for a younger market”.

Sounds sensible, until you realise just how young Sony is aiming: “The summer’s game releases, such as Harry Potter and Petz, as well as the launch of the new colours. are certainly appealing to an 8-15-year-old audience.”

It’s a good job for parents that they did leave out Wi-Fi, then, as we can’t imagine many eight year olds having the cash to buy the PSP e1000 – even if it is relatively cheap!
