Gadget fans will already know a Samsung Galaxy Note 2 is coming. It was accidentally leaked by Samsung Arabia’s Twitter account a few weeks ago. Now, the Galaxy Note 2 looks set to land on August 30th, during consumer tech show IFA 2012.
The Galaxy Note 2 is tipped to have a 5.3-inch screen, run the latest Android Jelly Bean operating system, and provide some tough competition to the iPhone and has previously been rumoured for an October release. Now sources (via Know Your Mobile) claim it could be launched as soon as August 30th, during a Samsung Mobile Unpacked 2012 event at IFA 2012, in Berlin, Germany.
The Galaxy Note 2 will be another large-sized smartphone, with an “unbreakable” screen expected to measure around 5.3-inches. The device is also likely to run Android Jelly Bean, and is tipped to have a quad-core processor and a 12-megapixel camera.
Samsung has not officially confirmed the launch date, but given Samsung’s record of announcing new devices at its Samsung Unpacked events, an August 30th launch date looks likely.
Samsung hopes the Galaxy Note 2 will provide lots of competition to the current iPhone and the incoming iPhone 5, despite its size bordering on tablet proportions in a device built for watching movies and playing the latest games from Google Play. It sounds like being one of the largest smartphones on the market.
By contrast, alleged iPhone 5 blueprints and photos of prototype samples hint that the next iPhone will have a 4-inch display – smaller than the Galaxy Note 2 and the 4.8-inch screen of the Samsung Galaxy S3.
