In the world of Android, the talk is all about the new Android Jelly Bean operating system. But what about Android Ice Cream Sandwich? It has still to reach a number of Android smartphones. One handset it will not be reaching is the HTC Desire HD. HTC claims the Desire HD is better off without it. Read on to hear why…
HTC confirmed that the HTC Desire HD will not be receiving Ice Cream Sandwich on its official blog. HTC removed the device from its list of devices that were scheduled to get the upgrade.
The reason? It’s because HTC claims the Desire HD offers the “best experience” as is, with the current version of HTC Sense. Here’s what HTC had to say:
“After extensive testing, we’ve determined that the current version of HTC Sense with Android provides customers with the best experience on the HTC Desire HD. When we consider new versions of software, we weigh a number of factors, but ultimately the customer experience on the product is the deciding factor. We apologize for any confusion this change may have caused our customers.”
One of Android’s weaknesses to date has been a tendency for some of its updates to cause instability on certain devices. HTC clearly wants to avoid doing the same for HTC Desire HD owners. If that means skipping the Ice Cream Sandwich update, then so be it. It seems.
