Motorola Atrix HD: 4.5-inch Kevlar Android phone unveiled

I’m out of the office today but here’s your Tech fix though.

Motorola Atrix HD: 4.5-inch Kevlar Android phone unveiled

Motorola has updated its Atrix line with the Motorola Atrix HD smartphone. The device features a 4.5-inch touchscreen display with Motorola’s HD ColorBoost display technology, a 1.5GHz dual-core processor and up to 32GB of microSD card storage. But does it have enough about it to tempt us away from the Samsung Galaxy S3 or iPhone? More specs this way.

The Motorola Atrix HD follows on from its powerful predecessor, taking the brand into Android Ice Cream Sandwich territory. The device has a large 4.5-inch display made better by Motorola’s HD ColorBoost technology. Colours promise to be sharp, bright and full of detail, making the Atrix HD an option for those that use their smartphone for a bit of light entertainment on the train.

It’s a real eye-catcher too, thanks to its Kevlar-coating – the same material used in bullet proof vests. It’s one tough cookie. As for its innards, the Motorola Atrix HD boasts a speedy 1.5GHz dual-core processor, 1GB ofRAM and 32GB of microSD storage for all the movies, music and photo goodness you’re likely to store inside it.

For photos you’re looking at an an 8-megapixel camera capable of shooting in full 1080p HD at 30 frames-per-second and a front-facing 1.3-megapixel camera for video calling. Out of the box, Atrix HD runs on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, not Android Jelly Bean. That update should come soon.

The Atrix HD sounds impressive enough but is it really going to tempt anyone from a Samsung Galaxy S3 or iPhone 4S?
