Sony PlayStation 3D Display finally on sale in UK

Almost one year on from its initial unveiling, the Sony PlayStation 3D Display is finally on sale in the UK. Built for gamers, the set’s SimulView tech lets two people play on the same monitor without the need to split the screen.

The Sony PlayStation 3D Display uses active shutter glasses that, when worn by two players gives each their own 2D picture for unconstrained gaming action.

For £449 (inc. VAT), the full package includes the 23.5-inch Full HD (1080p) PlayStation 3D Display monitor with two HDMI inputs and a component input, two rechargeable pairs of 3D glasses, and copies of racing game Gran Turismo 5 and shooter Killzone 3. A HDMI cable is also supplied.

Gamers will find the PlayStation 3D Display from selected high street and online retailers, but such is its demand that Amazon has already sold out of its initial stock, suggesting that one year on, gamers have not been put off by the delay.

However, Sony isn’t the only telly manufacturer boasting SimulView tech. The recently launched Philips 7000 series also features the screen-sharing know-how, albeit at a higher price.
