Dell is giving its Alienware laptop range a welcome refresh, updating the Alienware M14x, M17x and M18x gaming laptops with new NVIDIA and AMD graphics and a pleasing performance and memory boost. It also appears that the M11x is sitting this one out.
Each laptop will keep the same sci-fi LED-lit looks, with big changes happening inside. Now all three models will have 6GB of 1600MHz memory as standard. For a little more, the M14x can be upped to a more meaty 16GB, while the M17x and M18x can be upped to a nice 32GB.
Graphics fans get a choice of NVIDIA’s 6 series or AMD’s 7 series GPU. Optional hardware upgrades include a Blu-ray drive, dual hard drives and and full HD for the M17x. Interestingly, it looks like the Alienware M11x will not benefit from the upgrade, and looks on its way to being discontinued, leaving the M14x as the smallest of the Alienware gaming laptops.
If gaming laptops aren’t your thing there’s always the Alienware X51.It’s a desktop gaming PC that resembles a console: like a gaming PC you can plonk under the telly capable of handling any game thrown at it. Even Battlefield 3. At full specs.
