ASUS Transformer Pad TF300T out May just £399

The Asus Transformer Pad TF300T is the latest in a line of tablets capable of transforming into a laptop thanks to a mobile dock. Now the affordable tablet has been priced and dated. The Transformer Pad TF300T will launch in May for £399 (inc. VAT), complete with keyboard dock. Those looking for an alternative to the new iPad should definitely read on.

Asus’ newest tablet looks to be a worthy challenger to any tablet on the market. It combines a decent price with the latest Android 4.0 user experience, and power to match.

The 10.1-inch Transformer Pad TF300T has an NVIDIA Tegra 3 quad-core CPU, made to work wonders with applications, documents, games and mostly anything else you’re likely to throw at it (within reason). At just 9.9mm thin and and 635g in weight, the Transformer Pad TF300T is also light enough to carry around, as a tablet or as a laptop. A dock gives the tablet a keyboard and trackpad, so it’s like having a notebook and tablet in one.

The Asus Transformer Pad TF300T also houses 64GB of storage, an 8-megapixel autofocus camera and USB and SD card ports. A total battery life of 15 hours when docked is more than you’ll find on both an Apple MacBook Pro (7 hours) and the new iPad (10 hours). Without the dock you’re looking at 10 hours – the same as Apple’s new iPad.

A price of £399 has been confirmed for a package that includes the mobile dock, available this May at retailers Currys, PC World and then more retailers from late June. A Royal Blue model will be available at launch, with the White Iceberg model out in late June and a Torch Red model out July 2012.
