HTC Golf for those on a budget drive!

HTC has been wowing us of late with its HTC One series of Android smartphones but if your pockets are feeling the pinch then maybe the HTC Golf is the way to go? This budget Android smartphone looks set to replace the HTC Wildfire S.

The HTC Golf may not be in the same league as the HTC One X or HTC One S but it looks like a few design lessons have been copied over to this entry-level smartphone. The big difference is clearly on the inside, as this Ice Cream Sandwich-powered Android smartphone is likely to be charged with a single-core processor.

There are no fully confirmed tech specs at this stage, other than a 5-megapixel camera on the back of the device. However, the rumour mill is suggesting that a 3.5-inch touchscreen display with 480×320-pixel resolution is the safest bet, As is the 512MB of RAM and 4GB of internal storage.

802.11n WiFi, Bluetooth and a microSD slot for extra memory have all been muted and we can expect Beats audio to offer a nice audio experience. Budget smartphones tend not to have key differentiators but it looks like the HTC Golf may have a front-facing camera for video calls, which may well be a nice touch at the entry-level price point.

With no official word yet from HTC, full details of tech spec, price and availability will be along in due course but for now it’s one to put on the ‘watch out for’ list. What do you think, is the HTC Golf shaping up as a leader in the budget smartphone stakes or likely to end up n a bunker?
