Samsung Galaxy S Advance budget smartphone hits UK stores!

Samsung Galaxy S Advance budget smartphone hits UK stores!

Samsung has sprung a neat little surprise by announcing that the Samsung Galaxy S Advance will be in shops from Monday, 30th April. Think of the Samsung Galaxy S Advance as a slightly watered down Galaxy S2 that still packs some meaty specs including a dual-core processor.

Naturally the Samsung Galaxy S Advance bears more than a passing resemblance to the rest of the Samsung Galaxy family. It has a familiar black body with a steel rim around the edges, as well as a slight curve to the bottom for a better grip.

When it comes to tech specs, the Samsung Galaxy S Advance will obviously not be as fast as the upcoming Galaxy S3, but it will pack some reasonable punch in the shape of a dual-core 1GHz processor.

The display is a 4-inch 480×800-pixel Super AMOLED affair, so a great size for web browsing as well as viewing photos of friends. The Samsung Super AMOLED screen mans images will certainly be bright and clear as the technology has more than proven over the years. There is also a 5-megapixel camera on the back.

Unfortunately, the Samsung Galaxy S Advance will not be running Android 4.0 – the latest Android operating system. Instead owners must make do with the older Gingerbread 2.3 interface. For now, at least.

A lack of Android 4.0 might be enough to put some off, but that shouldn’t take away from what still sounds like a great entry-level phone. Another alternative might be the HTC One V, which has just launched with a 1GHz processor and Android 4.0. That said, the Samsung Galaxy S3 will be unveiled on 3 May, so it might be worth waiting just to see what Samsung has in store on the Galaxy S3 front.
