Sky and Sainsburys team up to create Apple iPad mayhem!

Not content with being the dominant force when it comes to watching sports at home or in the pub, broadcaster Sky has got a trick up its sleeve that it hopes will see the man (or sports fanatic) of the house suddenly offer to do the weekly shop. The company is trying out a trolly-mounted iPad dock in specific Sainsburys stores, and it could be one of the most annoying inventions yet!

Do you get annoyed by people playing their iPods too loud? At having to listen to car stereos that aren’t yours? The chances are you’ll hate the latest gadget from Sky then, which sees a solar powered iPad dock mounted on a shopping trolly, along with speakers that lets the user catch up with the latest sport as they trek round the isles.

Granted, it would be handy to stay in touch with the game as you shop – without having to rush round and get back in time for all the action – but we can’t help feeling that it’s an accident waiting to happen.

The trollies being tested out are fitted with proximity sensors to warn users engrossed in the action – which will be played by via a Sky Go app on your iPad – that they’re about to ram into other shoppers. With commentary for different games blaring out, and trollies being pushed by (even more) unaware shoppers, we can imagine it setting the scene for some serious aisle rage!
