Motorola vs BlackBerry with the FIRE

imageimage

Motorola are set to launch a budget-friendly Android smartphone this September which could very much be mistaken for a BlackBerry handset and this is what Victoria McManus, Motorola’s UK marketing boss had to say about the new and upcoming smartphone:

“We are excited about extending our growing smartphone range in UK, and Motorola FIRE opens up new possibilities in the smartphone market. The device’s stylish design and its exciting and versatile social media applications will wow younger, tech-loving users in particular.”

It holds a 2.8 inch touchscreen and features a full qwerty keyboard, Android Gingerbread (2.3) and Motorola’s Moto Switch which allows you to create a distance between your work and home life. The smartphone very much offers support for texts and emails just like BlackBerry’s Curve entry level smartphone series. A 3Mp camera is thrown in, Wi-Fi, access to the Android Market, GPS and FM Radio which is something BlackBerry don’t currently offer.

Plus, Motorola  do boast about the good battery life featured on the FIRE giving you enough juice all day to  browse the web, text, flick through your emails, make a few calls and even play the odd game.

What’s my view?

It sounds good and does offer a few features that BlackBerry’s entry level smartphone Curve series doesn’t such as FM Radio, touchscreen and a 3Mp camera. Plus, access to the Android Market. Its set to be cheap so BlackBerry you may have a fight on your hands.
