Windows 8 is officially launched

  • Branded as the “best release of Windows ever”
  • Windows Store officially opens.
  • 100s of new apps added everyday.
  • Multi-platform OS available to laptops, desktops and tablets at midnight.

Microsoft have done it – they have gone and launched Windows 7’s successor, Windows 8 with 1000 certified pieces of Windows 8 hardware going on sale at midnight.

The Windows 8 OS will be multi-platform and available across  laptops, desktops and tablets.

Windows head Steven Sinofsky also on stage officially opened the Windows Store, coming complete with a load of exciting apps.

Sinofsky went onto say:

"We know some might start to count apps – but we see today as a grand opening and developers are adding 100s of new apps every day,"

Available tonight at midnight (UK) you will be able to upgrade your existing Windows 7 computer to the new, shiny Windows 8. Microsoft promises that the new OS will bring: better battery life, faster boot times and be more lightweight.

Sinofsky dubbed this OS as the “best release of Windows ever” and described the new hardware as “the best PCs ever”, a little bit bias!
