  • Everything Everywhere will bring 4G to ten cities by the end of this month.
  • More will receive the new technology by the end of the year.
  • EE hope to provide 98% of the population with 4G by 2014.
  • The network offers speeds of up to 44Mbps.

The first-ever 4G network in the UK from EE (Everything Everywhere) which is Orange and T-Mobile teamed up basically is coming this month. There’s already 4G phones out on the market at the moment and now all we need is a 4G network, EE will see to that.

From the 30th October the following cities will all be able to receive 4G signal:

  • London (out to the M25 only according to sources)
  • Birmingham
  • Cardiff
  • Bristol
  • Edinburgh
  • Leeds
  • Sheffield
  • Manchester
  • Liverpool
  • Glasgow

Other cities listed below will receive the new tech by the end of the year:

  • Newcastle
  • Southampton
  • Hull
  • Nottingham
  • Derby
  • Belfast

4G phones are already available in shops on networks, T-Mobile and Orange however for this changeover to go smoothly you have to change your tariff and transfer you phone number over to a new SIM when due.

EE is to offer speeds of up to 44Mbps. However, O2 and Vodafone thought that they better catch up before EE take over the country. The hope to launch 4G networks next year.
