Samsung Galaxy Music: Pocket iPod rival debuts

I’m out of the office today but here’s today’s daily Tech fix.

It’s pouring smartphones at the moment, and today we’ve got word of another new entrant. Unlike the pricy Samsung Galaxy Note 2 and iPhone 5 though, this one’s more stocking filler than present under the tree: say hello to Samsung’s latest cut price Android, the Samsung Galaxy Music.

The Samsung Galaxy Music won’t take super sharp snaps like the iPhone 5, or pull off the same magical stylus skills as the Samsung Galaxy Note 2. But it won’t break the bank either, and that may be enough if you’re looking to upgrade.

The Samsung Galaxy Music packs in a three-inch, 240×320 screen and three megapixel camera: pretty low budget, yes, but it still runs the powerful and easy to use Android 4.0. That means access to hundreds of thousands of apps and games, including Google’s excellent Chrome browser.

That music focus also means a couple of extra skills, including SRS Surround sound for the back-of-the-bus crowd, an FM radio and a music key to quickly jump to your tunes.

The Samsung Galaxy Music doesn’t have a release date just yet, or a price, but we’d expect it to be cheap, and soon. Will you be picking one up?
