Porsche Design P'9981 BlackBerry official launch

We’ve been waiting a little while for the Porsche Design BlackBerry, and now it’s finally been launched. Called the Porsche Design P’9981 BlackBerry, it looks like a stunning example of style over substance, although in fairness the spec is also pretty decent.

Even before yesterday’s launch of the Porsche Design P’9981 BlackBerry, we’d seen photographs of the handset. There were no surprises on the design front, then, but it’s definitely a smartphone that will get you noticed.

When it comes to styling, the Porsche Design P’9981 BlackBerry is all hard edges and angles, and it features a high quality forged steel chassis. The rear of the phone is covered in hand-wrapped leather, completing the tactile and high quality feel.

Spec-wise, there’s a 2.8-inch touchscreen, 1.2GHz processor, 8GB of integrated memory and a microSD slot. When it comes to software, the Porsche Design P’9981 BlackBerry runs RIM’s OS 7 operating system, with a Porsche Design interface.

Set to cost over £1200, you’ll need to REALLY want a Porsche Design smartphone to pick the Porsche Design P’9981 BlackBerry over a regular BlackBerry 9900 or any other smartphone, however.
