iPhone 4S raises the bar for mobile gaming

imageFinally revealed last night, Apple’s iPhone 4S isn’t just a better phone than the original iPhone 4 – it’s also a better gaming device – with graphics able to run up to seven times faster thanks to a new A5 chip. Gaming on the mobile phone has never looked better says Apple. Should Sony and Nintendo be worried? Read on for more iPhone 4S gaming details.

With the Nintendo 3DS, and soon to be launched Sony PS Vita, gaming’s mobile battleground will be fiercely fought over. Last night Apple revealed another surefire threat to both, in the iPhone 4S.

It might just be a phone, but this one, Apple confirmed will feature some of the best graphics seen on a mobile phone – all powered by Apple’s new dual-core A5 chip. Apple says the chip will deliver twice the power of the previous iPhone and up to seven times faster graphics. Gaming on the mobile phone will have never looked better.

To prove it, Epic Games, the developers behind Gears of War showed off an impressive looking Infinity Blade 2 – the sequel to the hit iPhone game, saying that it will take full advantage of the processing power of the device.

The new chip promises to be more efficient – and that means a longer battery life letting iPhone 4S play games for longer.
