Brand new feature to the blog is the Friday Round-Up which is where I bring you the Tech news that I’ve missed out on throughout the week. However, obviously not all of it because that would just be impossible!

This week I bring you news on the suspected Sony PSN hack, a new smartphone from Samsung, a new date for the Samsung and Google nexus prime launch, a brand new Wii and finally budget-friendly tablet news.

First up, is a suspected attack on Sony with the company having to temporarily lockdown up to 93,000 user accounts.

Sony was busy suspending many PSN accounts earlier this week after a suspected attack on the servers again.

Hackers attempted to try and access secure data held on the PlayStation Network, Sony Entertainment Network and Sony’s Online Entertainment Service. This was done as explained on the PlayStation Blog by collecting and storing a ‘massive’ set of users IDs and passwords to gain access.

This is what Phillip Reitinger, Sony’s Chief Information Security Officer had to say in a post about the lock down:

“We want to let you know that we have detected attempts on Sony Entertainment Network, PlayStation Network and Sony Online Entertainment [...] services to test a massive set of sign-in IDs and passwords against our network database.

“As a preventative measure, we are requiring secure password resets for those PSN/SEN accounts that had both a sign-in ID and password match through this attempt. If you are in the small group of PSN/SEN users who may have been affected, you will receive an email from us at the address associated with your account that will prompt you to reset your password.”

Now, the Nexus Prime big launch event in Hong Kong has been cancelled in memory of Steve Jobs.

The unveiling of the all new Nexus Prime has been rescheduled until Wednesday October 19th 2011 in memory of former Apple CEO, Steve Jobs death.

According the the present rumours we can expect a dual-core 1.2GHz A9 processor and minimum of 1GB of RAM on offer in the all new Nexus Prime. The camera will have the ability to shoot in whopping 1080p HD with a screen measuring 4.5 inches built with AMOLED HD technology plus coming with a resolution of 1280x720.

On top of that the launch event was also supposed to unveil Android’s brand new OS dubbed ‘Ice Cream Sandwich’, it looks to bring together the phone and ‘tablet focused flavours of Gingerbread and Honeycomb’.

Next, unveiled in a press-release video was the all new Samsung, Android smartphone.

Its called the Samsung Stratosphere and will be added to the Galaxy S range. The specs include a 1GHz processor, a 4-inch AMOLED display, a sliding qwerty keyboard and will come running Android 2.3 (Gingerbread). It will also come with support for 4G LTE networks, not much use for the UK at the moment though.

Furthermore, if you’re a business user and looking for a new handset then this one could be for you because very much of the features are business related such as enterprise security built in features and the added integration of Microsoft Exchange.

No sign of a 3G version yet.
