World’s largest glasses-free display lets you see the side of objects in 3D

Still skeptical about 3D television? Then take a look at this. It’s the world’s largest high definition glasses-free TV capable of letting viewers see even the side of objects in full third dimensions. It has to be seen to be believed.

The world’s largest no-glasses 3D TV is a 200-inch monster developed by the National Institute of Information and Communications (NICT), with the help of JVC and Kenwood.

3D televisions found in the home usually pack some impressive tech, but this is something else. It uses 57 projectors to create a balance of colour, which in turn delivers a stunning, and bright picture.

The full result is an image with 57 different viewing angles. So that from whichever angle you look, objects appear in 3D. Viewers can even move from side to side to see the sides of objects in full 3D and in high definition.

Don’t expect to see the colossal TV set in stores anytime soon though, there are no plans to bring it to retail. For one thing, its 500kg is sure to give the store delivery man nightmares.

WIll this sort of tech ever make its way into the home. On a smaller scale, of course.
