If you are user of PC gaming download service, Stream you are advised to change your account passwords due to a recent security breach.

This is what the company president, Gabe Newell had to say about the incident:

“We learned that intruders obtained access to a Steam database in addition to the forums,”

The president goes onto say that the database is found containing usernames, passwords, game purchases, email addresses, billing addresses, encrypted credit card information.

However, the good news if any is that there has so far been no sign of credit card misuse.

“We don’t have evidence of credit card misuse at this time. Nonetheless you should watch your credit card activity and statements closely.”

The best bit of advice is to go ahead and change your Stream account passwords immediately. The company, Valve have also promised to reopen the forums as soon as possible. Newell finishes by saying:

”I am truly sorry this happened, and I apologise for the inconvenience.”

What do you make of the security breach? How’s it affecting you? Leave us a comment.
