Canon C300 cinema camera takes on Hollywood!

image

We’ve seen some pretty serious kit from Canon over the years, but even the company’s high-end DSLR models look like toys compared to the new Canon C300 cinema camera. Granted, half of that is because of the ludicrously large looking lense, but we’re certain it will deliver results capable of turning Spielberg green with envy.

The Canon C300 cinema camera is the latest addition to Canon’s film making portfolio, offering a relatively portable way to get into film making. Alas – with a price that’s expected to be around $20,000 – it’s out of our range, but serious film makers won’t even blink at the price.

For the money, you’ll be able to shoot 1080p video courtesy of a Super 35mm CMOS sensor, with a couple of CF cards in place for storing movie clips.

The absolutely massive lens seen in the photograph is from Canon’s new high-end EF zoom range, boasting a 14.5-60mm range, with 30-300mm also available.

You’ll be able to choose from two different mount systems when speccing the Canon C300, using either the company’s EF mount and lenses, or the industry standard PL lens mount.

If nothing else, it certainly looks like one hell of an impressive gadget!
