HP reveals first Ivy Bridge Pavilion laptops

HP has finally revealed the first of its Ivy Bridge laptops: the Pavilion DV4-5000, DV6-7000 and DV7-7000. All three are now listed on HP’s website, and all three will include the latest Intel i7 Ivy Bridge processor delivering higher performance and more power. More details on the impressive mid-range laptops this way.

Other laptops might be more powerful, but if you’re looking for a range that shouldn’t break the bank (although a price has yet to be announced), yet offer top-notch performance, these new Ivy Bridge laptops should make the grade.

Starting with the DV4-5000. The baby of the bunch is still an impressive little laptop. It has a 14-inch screen with a 1366×768 resolution and 8GB of RAM, a 1 terabyte hard-drive and an Nvidia GeForce GT 630M graphics card. The Pavilion DV6-7000 has the same specs, but instead has a 15.6-inch screen with the same resolution.

The real upgrade here is the Pavilion DV7-7000. It has a bigger 17.3-inch 1920×1080 full HD display, 8GB of RAM, 2.6GHz Intel i7-3720QM processor and an Nvidia GeForce GT 650m graphics card.

You could quite easily play the latest games on it. But it has some competition from more specialist gaming laptops. Toshiba recently launched its powerful Qosmio X870 gaming laptop, not to mention the P885 – its latest glasses-free 3D laptop. Still, the latest HP laptops should prove to be more than capable all-rounders.
