Apple has unveiled the newest iteration of Apple TV. Apple TV 3 has given the service a boost with full HD (1080p) support and an improved iOS-like interface with clear, bright menus to make it easier to watch what you want.

The new Apple TV will now stream in full 1080p HD, whereas it used to be 720p. It’s about time. Apple TV 3 will also deliver photo stream support, and play nice with Apple’s iCloud service Apple CEO Tim Cook confirmed.

“Now when I take a photo on my iPhone it automatically appears on my Apple TV without my having to do anything at all.”

Cook also revealed that TV shows and movies in iTunes will also be getting the hi-def treatment. “We’re also announcing that movies and TV shows in the iTunes store support 1080p HD. They are absolutely incredible quality”

Apple TV 3 comes in a little black box that will hit UK shelves on 16 March for £99. Existing Apple TV owners will be getting a new interface update as we speak.
