Could there be a smaller and cheaper Apple iPad 2 on its way?

Next week will see Apple reveal all at the iPad 3 launch event but they also could be unveiling plans for a cheaper iPad, speculation is brewing and a report from Digitimes claims that the company will put on sale a 7.85-inch version of the tablet on top of the iPad 3 release. This would certainly stoop up the competition against its competitors including Amazon Kindle Fire, a large US rival and here in the UK the Samsung Galaxy Tab and the Motorola Xoom will definitely not approve.

The smaller iPad is expected to be priced at around $249 – $299 with the Kindle Fire only costing folk living in the US $199. Competition or what?!

Apple are aware they have to up their game in the tablet market hence for a possible price reduction of the iPad 2 coming down to $349 to avoid Microsoft arriving and winning the crowd over.

Be sure to check back here on the 7th March for the verdict.
