Spotify yesterday announced the addition of their very own app store offering third party apps to its users through the desktop programme.

Flick to the Spotify website and you will find an updated site now bringing you an app finder allowing you to find such apps as The Guardian, Rolling Stone and Last.fm to name a few.

This is what Spotify founder, Daniel Ek had to say about the new app store:

“We believe that Spotify is creating the history of music today. The online music landscape is filled with innovation and there are lots of great services, Spotify founder Daniel Ek explained in launching the initiative.

But there are 500 million people listening online and the majority do this illegally. So we need something better than privacy. It is all about access, so Spotify’s mission was simple: give people access to all the music all of the time. And make it legal.”
