64GB Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime delayed!

The Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime is likely to be one of the most exciting tablets of 2012, offering an even better experience than the excellent Eee Pad Transformer. Unfortunately, the launch date for the 64GB model has slipped back to 2012 – despite being announced for pre-order just last week. Read on to find out more.

The Asus Eee Pad Transformer was a revolutionary device, offering the best of both tablets and laptops. With the keyboard removed, there was nothing to give the game away that this tiny gadget could double up as a fully-fledged laptop. Slip it into the keyboard dock, and it’s an incredibly capable laptop, with an even more impressive battery life.

The software was a bit buggy, however, and Asus felt it could improve the all-round experience with the introduction of the Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime.

This 10.1-inch tablet-come-laptop is available with a choice of 32GB and 64GB of solid state storage, with up to 18 hours of use from a single battery charge (the keyboard also packing in a secondary battery).

On Friday, we announced that the Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime was available for pre-order from a host of different retailers, with prices starting at £499 (complete with keyboard).

While pre-orders are still available from several retailers for the 32GB variant, things aren’t running so smoothly for the 64GB version. Retailer Clove has cancelled pre-orders for the high-end Prime, with the tablet expected to be delayed until a couple of months into 2012.
