GAME to exit administration, reward points return!

From doom and gloom on the high street, to a glimmer of hope. It appears that a consortium led by RBS has stepped in as a buyer for the UK’s biggest video game retailer. It gives hope that we’ll still be able to buy our video games from the high street specialist. More importantly, GAME leaving administration could secure thousands of jobs. Reward points are back, too.

LG Display: world’s first electronic paper, your flexible friend

Forget e-Readers, it seems digital newspapers may be with us sooner than we think. LG has announced plans to begin mass production of what it says is the world’s first electronic paper. The flexible paper is a 6-inch screen that can bend up to 40 degrees. It beckons the possibility of newspapers and magazines with moving images. It’s the stuff of science fiction, only it’s very real.

PlayStation 4 to be called Orbis, coming 2013?

The PlayStation 4 is well underway and it seems it now has a name, it will be called Orbis! What’s more it will hit the shops in 2013 in time for Christmas. That’s according to one source, which claims the PS4 will play 3D games in full high definition, not offer backwards compatibility with PS3 games and feature anti-pre-owned technology.

GAME Group enters administration, stores begin closure

GAME retail stores across the country appear to have closed their doors for the last time following the GAME Group entering administration. Over the last week, administration has looked the likely option for one of the UK’s most recognisable high street stores. Now, following administration, around 300 of the UK’s 609 GAME and Gamestation stores will cease trading immediately. Many already have.

Vibrating steering wheels: the future of sat-nav?

Satellite navigation is a godsend, preventing millions of us from getting lost, or getting us out of a motorway-shaped pickle when we do lose our way. The only problem is sometimes having to take your eyes off the road when using them. An alternative dreamt up by researchers uses vibrating steering wheels to signal direction through the wheel using haptic feedback. It could the future of sat-nav.

The iPad 3 has just recently been launched  and triumphing with 3 million of them being sold in just the first weekend of sales. Evidence sourced from Ars Technica suggests that Apple’s tablet and iPhone might not be the only device to get hold of a retina display.

BBC iPlayer hits Xbox 360

Xbox 360 owners have something more to celebrate. From today the BBC iPlayer TV catch-up service will roll out to Xbox 360 consoles. The service will be free to all Xbox Live users. Even those without an Xbox Live Gold paid subscription, and feature Kinect voice control and HD streaming. More details this way…

HP reveals first Ivy Bridge Pavilion laptops

HP has finally revealed the first of its Ivy Bridge laptops: the Pavilion DV4-5000, DV6-7000 and DV7-7000. All three are now listed on HP’s website, and all three will include the latest Intel i7 Ivy Bridge processor delivering higher performance and more power. The Samsung Galaxy S3, the successor to the Galaxy S2 has popped up onto the Internet today sourced from the website, Visit Electronista sporting a slimmer profile and a new colour scheme including a grey back panel and and a white front from the picture above. On top of that, rumours are that the phone will come intact with Android 4.0, a 4.3-inch display and a 1.5GHz quad-core processor.

Facebook Messenger hits Windows

Facebook Messenger for Windows has finally gone official, letting Windows using Facebook fans chat using a desktop client. It means you won’t have to visit the Facebook website to get your chat on. It comes with all the bells and whistles of the main version, with extra convenience. We can also look forward to a Mac version later this year. More this way.

Last week Nokia revealed that it would release a new smartphone carrying a 41Mp camera! However, when it was announced last week news was that it would run on an older OS, Nokia Belle. This didn’t make sense at all with the firm partnering up with Microsoft however don’t worry because the company will now be passing on the tech to the Windows Phone platform as well!

Could there be a smaller and cheaper Apple iPad 2 on its way?

Next week will see Apple reveal all at the iPad 3 launch event but they also could be unveiling plans for a cheaper iPad, speculation is brewing and a report from Digitimes claims that the company will put on sale a 7.85-inch version of the tablet on top of the iPad 3 release. This would certainly stoop up the competition against its competitors including Amazon Kindle Fire, a large US rival and here in the UK the Samsung Galaxy Tab and the Motorola Xoom will definitely not approve.
