Google meet Facebook Graph Search

Facebook were in California last night to announce the next step for the social-networking site and that is Graph Search. Yep, no sign of a Facebook phone but instead a new feature to take on the all mighty Google.

Currently there is already search bar but Facebook are going one step further with the Graph Search. It will work a little like Apple Siri’s but without the voice control feature, e.g. “Show me Mark Zuckerberg’s profile.”

It isn’t exactly the same as the likes of Google and Bing though as Facebook say the Graph Search is “very different” to a generic web search. Graph search for example will use what you search to bring up results containing people, places or photo. However, users of the site can make a web search with the support of Bing.

Currently Facebook Graph Search makes use of the these four areas: friends, photos, places and interests.

Mark Zuckerberg, CEO and founder of Facebook confirms that privacy still is key and that  he 'respects the privacy and audience of each piece of content' so users won’t necessary see any new information which they didn’t have access to.

Its in Beta now.
