Nintendo 3DS XL to get Circle Pad Pro attachment

Nintendo 3DS XL to get Circle Pad Pro attachment

When the Nintendo 3DS XL was unveiled last week one question on everyone’s lips was “where is the Circle Pad Pro attachment?” Nintendo fans need not worry. A 3DS XL Circle Pad Pro accessory is coming, Nintendo president Satoru Iwata confirmed.

The Circle Pad Pro is already available for the current 3DS model. It adds a second analogue joystick on the right-hand side, that comes in handy for games such as Resident Evil: Revelations, where players might want a second stick to navigate the in-game camera angle.

With the Circle Pad Pro controls are more like those of a dedicated home console control pad. So we can see why fans have been crying out for a Circle Pad Pro for the Nintendo 3DS XL, too.

Nintendo president Iwata confirmed there will be one, but was unable to name a date or price. The cost is likely to be different, since the 3DS XL has a screen 90 per cent larger than the 3DS.

The 3DS XL will also be slightly heavier than the 3DS, and have a battery life of between 3.5 and 6.5 hours depending on what you’re using it for. The 3DS XL arrives in Europe on 28th July, and the US on 19th August in black, blue and white flavours.

The current Circle Pad Pro on Amazon.co.uk costs £19.
