  • Poor figures.
  • 70% of Avast users aren’t going to be upgrading to Windows 8.
  • Google and Apple are ahead.

Windows 8 was released last month and currently it is not as popular as Microsoft originally imagined.

The latest evidence comes from web analytic company called NetApplications who have said that as of November 11th, Windows 8 had targeted 1.04% of the desktop market share only. This is on par with Apple’s Linux OS at 1.4%. Not good.

Comparing it with previous operating systems, Microsoft captured 45% of the market with Windows 7, Windows XP gained 39% and with Windows Vista (Microsoft’s most-hated OS) scoring 5.4%.

The results above represent raw data and are all unofficial figures.

Windows 8 was all about touch however NetApplication’s figures don’t look good at all. Based on their research Microsoft have currently only scored 0.02% of the tablet market. They have scored slightly better than Windows RT Touch though, which so far has scored 0%.

According to a previous Avast survey 70% of their users confirmed that they won’t be upgrading to Windows 8.

Microsoft certainly has a lot of catching up to. Do you have Windows 8? Are you impressed? Let us know in ‘Comments’.
