New iPod nano packs tiny iPhone design: So long, Shuffle?

The iPhone 5 has just been announced this evening, but that’s not all Apple’s got for us. It’s just unveiled a completely redesigned new iPod nano – and it looks just like a tiny, tiny iPhone, complete with home button.

The 16GB new iPad nano measures just 5.4mm thin, and comes with a 2.5-inch rectangular screen. That’s a big change from the last generation square nano, and yes, it means Apple’s bringing back support for watching videos on it. The display supports multitouch gestures, and there are physical controls on the side for when you want to select songs but don’t want to look at the screen – when you’re out jogging, say.

Speaking of which, the new iPod nano also has Bluetooth and Nike+ built in, so you can exercise with wireless headphones on it. And it being an iPod nano, it comes in a whole rainbow of colours – silver, grey, pink, green, blue, yellow and red.

Intrigued? It’s out in October, priced up at £129.
